Standard Arts Presents its Latest Art Installation at 200 Fifth Avenue in New York - Pixel Garden. This work combines two of Prado’s signature art creations—pixelated closeup portraits of iconic characters and industrial mirror and scaffold sculptures. Pixel Garden’s Lego “paintings” reference 200 Fifth Avenue’s former life as the International Toy Center while coincidentally connecting to the building’s tenant the Lego Store just a few doors down. Meanwhile, clusters of small mirrors further reinforce the pixelated style while providing an interactive element.
Pixel Garden is the first in Prado’s new series of portraits featuring film stills of actors looking at their own reflection in a mirror. Visitors are invited to gaze into the eyes of the portrait. She gazes back, yet past you into her own reflection, creating an unsettling sense of voyeurism and distance between subject and viewer.
200 Fifth Avenue is located on the southwest corner of 5th Avenue and West 23rd Street, across from Madison Square Park, in Manhattan. The lobby is open to the public durin business hours. The exhibition will be on view through Spring 2020.
